CREFP® Exam Information

The Certified Real Estate Finance Professional (CREFP®)® exam is designed to assess your knowledge, analytical skills, and practical application of real estate finance concepts. Successful completion of the exam is required to earn the CREFP® designation.

Exam Format

Type: Online, proctored multiple-choice and case-study-based exam

Duration: 3 hours

Number of Questions: 100

  • Question Types:

    • Multiple-choice

    • Scenario-based financial analysis

    • Case study evaluations

    • Numerical problem-solving

Exam Topics

The exam covers key areas of real estate finance, including:

  • Mortgage and commercial loan structures

  • Risk assessment and financial modeling

  • Real estate capital markets and investment strategies

  • Debt and equity financing principles

  • Loan underwriting and portfolio management

Eligibility & Scheduling

  • Candidates must complete the CREFP® coursework and portfolio submission before taking the exam.

  • Exams are offered on a rolling basis, with available dates each month.

  • Candidates can schedule their exam through the MREI student portal.

Retake Policy

  • If a candidate does not pass on the first attempt, they may retake the exam after 30 days.

  • A retake fee applies for each additional attempt.

Upon passing the exam, candidates will receive:
